Osarenkhoe Ethel Chima-Nwogwugwu is a Nigerian NCD advocate and founder of the Diabetes and Limb Salvage Foundation, dedicated to improving awareness, prevention, and care for diabetes and related conditions. Living with type 2 diabetes for 25 years, she serves on the Our Views, Our Voices Global Advisory Committee (2024–2025), amplifying the voices of people living with NCDs worldwide.

Osarenkhoe Ethel Chima-Nwogwugwu

Bio

Osarenkhoe Ethel Chima-Nwogwugwu is an accomplished Nigerian advocate, entrepreneur, and humanitarian with over two decades of lived experience with type 2 diabetes. For 25 years, she has transformed her personal journey into a platform for national and global advocacy, championing the prevention, early detection, and equitable care of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), particularly diabetes, hypertension, sickle cell disorder, and maternal and child health.

She is the Founder and Executive Director of the Diabetes & Limb Salvage Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to reducing preventable amputations and improving quality of life for people living with diabetes in Nigeria. Through the foundation, she has led awareness campaigns, community screenings, hospital outreaches, and patient support initiatives, reaching thousands of individuals in underserved communities.

Osarenkhoe serves in leadership and advisory roles in several networks, including the NCD Alliance Nigeria, Blue Circle Voices Network of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), Diabetes Association of Nigeria (DAN), is an alumni of #dedocvoices online support group, and is currently a member of the Our Views, Our Voices Global Advisory Committee (2024–2025).

She is also a regular volunteer at the General Hospital Gbagada, Lagos, where she promotes empathy and advocates for patients’ rights to quality care, education and support. In recognition of her expertise and grassroots impact, Osarenkhoe was invited to speak at the NCD Alliance Forum 2025 in Kigali, Rwanda and IDF World Diabetes Congress 2025 in Bangkok, where she amplified voices from Africa and advocated for stronger policy frameworks for NCD care.

Beyond advocacy, she is a successful entrepreneur, leading OSACHIMA Ventures Ltd., Naija Rescue Services, and OVL Foods. She is joyfully married and a proud mother of five daughters. With her blend of personal resilience, professional skill, and unwavering commitment to social change, Osarenkhoe continues to inspire action for an inclusive, patient-centred global NCD response.
