Advocate Profile
Evans Majau
Evans Majau is a passionate voice for people living with CVDs and other NCDs. His story is deeply personal: he lives with a mild aortic valve condition and intermittent explosive disorder, and is the father of a child born with a complex congenital heart defect. These experiences opened his eyes to the urgent need for stronger, more compassionate health systems, and set him on the path of advocacy.
He is the Programs Coordinator of the Kenya Mended Hearts Patients Association, a national network supporting children and families affected by congenital and rheumatic heart disease. He also chairs the Caucus of Patient Led Organizations on NCDs in Kenya and serves on the Board of the NCD Alliance of Kenya. In these roles, Evans champions patient-led advocacy, ensuring that policies and systems are shaped by the people they are meant to serve.
For Evans, advocacy is about more than policy change. It is about early diagnosis, access to treatment, and creating a community where families feel seen, supported, and never alone. Through grassroots mobilization and leadership, he works to restore dignity, hope, and joy to children, adults and caregivers facing life with chronic conditions.
With a background in project management, Evans combines strategic thinking with empathy. He is recognised for his ability to bring people together and push for people-centred health solutions. His mission is simple yet profound: to make sure no child dies from a preventable heart condition, and to leave no voice unheard in the fight for equitable health systems.
Evans is associated with the NCD Alliance Kenya and the Kenya Mended Hearts Patients Association.
No child should lose their life to a preventable heart condition. Every story matters, every family deserves support, and every patient’s voice should shape the system. My advocacy is about turning lived experience into change, so hope and dignity are never out of reach, for my heart was touched, a heart I shall inspire.
