Are you living with HIV and one or more noncommunicable disease?

The NCD Alliance invites people with lived experience (including care partners) of HIV and NCDs to share their stories of living with multiple morbidities for a publication which will be launched ahead of the AIDS2024 conference and used to advocate for HIV/NCD integration.

We may not publish all the submissions we receive due to space restrictions, and because we are hoping to reflect as much diversity as we can. We will only publish stories with the full approval and consent of the author.

All submissions will be reviewed and we will be in touch with all writers before the 25th of May 2024.

Your story could:

  • Briefly describe your journey, from diagnosis to present day, and the highs and lows along the way.
  • focus on specific challenges you have faced in managing both HIV and NCDs simultaneously, your challenges and triumphs and moments of hope that have kept you going.
  • highlight your experiences with healthcare providers and the healthcare system, finding supportive healthcare professionals, navigating treatment and barriers to care.
  • highlight your advocacy efforts or experiences in raising awareness about HIV, NCDs, or the intersection of both and your experiences in advocating for change.
  • describe your experiences supporting a loved one living with HIV and NCDs, the lessons you have learned, and the impact of your role on your own well-being.
  • reflect on your hopes and aspirations for the future and the future you would like to see for yourself and others living with HIV and NCDs. Submissions are recommended to be between 300-800 words. Submissions can be anonymized in the publication, to protect privacy.
